Air Quality

Poor air quality is a major concern for the health and well-being of Utah families. Inversion is one of the few negatives that companies mention when considering relocation or expansion in Utah. Increased attention has been given to changing vehicle emissions and standards, but new laws need to include building more energy-efficient and low-emission appliances for homes and businesses. According to a recent study, emissions from homes and businesses will replace vehicles as the primary producers of pollution by 2050 if changes are not made. A concerted and sustainable approach to mitigating and alleviating air pollution should be a major concern for all Utahns.

Some of the legislation I have sponsored and co-sponsored aligning with Air Quality includes:

HCR013 2019 - Concurrent Resolution Encouraging Utah Refiners to Manufacture Tier 3 Gasoline to Improve Air Quality [PASSED]

HB0223 2021 - Alternative Fuel Incentives Amendments (Co-sponsored with Senator Hinkins) [PASSED]

HB0404 2022 - Large Public Transit District Amendments (Co-sponsored with Senator Anderegg) [PASSED]

HCR007 2022 - Concurrent Resolution Regarding Improving Air Quality Through Enhanced Zero Emission Rail (Co-sponsored with Senator Hinkins) [PASSED]

HB0311 2022 - Alternative Fuel Heavy Equipment Tax Credit (Co-sponsored with Senator Hinkins)
