Inflation

Inflation has placed a significant strain on Utah families, with rising prices for groceries, gas, and housing. I am committed to ensuring our economy remains strong and continues to provide for the needs of Utahns. Over the past two years, the legislature has responded with over $800 million in tax cuts, providing much-needed relief during these challenging times.

In contrast to heavy-handed federal policies, Utah’s free-market approach has made our state one of the top economies in the nation for 14 consecutive years. I’ve supported legislation to reduce regulatory barriers and broaden licensing requirements (HB58, HB91, HB282), helping to create jobs and increase salaries for thousands of Utahns. Additionally, I’ve worked to ensure greater transparency and accountability in how government agencies and public education use your tax dollars.

Our state continues to stand out as a model of economic resilience, and I will keep fighting inflation with sound, responsible fiscal policies to help Utah families thrive.

Some of the legislation I have sponsored and co-sponsored aligning with Inflation reduction includes:

  • HB0240 2019 - Money Management Act Amendments (Co-sponsored with Senator Cullimore) [PASSED]

  • HB0241 2019 - Budgetary Procedures Act Amendments (Co-sponsored with Senator Brambel) [PASSED]

  • HB0018 2021 - Driver Education Amendments (Co-sponsored with Senator Buxton) [PASSED)
