Checking In At The Legislature: June 2022 Update

Friends and neighbors,

Campaign season is in full swing. The Republican Primary election will be held on June 28th, and ballots are in the mail. I want to encourage you to get out and vote! As your representative, I've worked hard to:

  • Cut taxes by more than $350 Million for hard-working Utahns.
  • Increase education funding and encourage more parental involvement in our children's education
  • Ensure government and education entities are held accountable and transparent by passing legislation to require audits each year.
  • Kept government as local as possible by voting against allowing the governor and legislature to make mandates or interfere with local government.

I've chosen to put the people of House District 20 first and continue to focus on your priorities. As always, if you would like to share your opinions, concerns, or discuss the state of House 20, don't hesitate to reach out. I'm here to support you.

Below are a couple of brief updates from the last few months. I appreciate your vote and support in the upcoming election!

Thanks to so many of you for hosting my signs! Found a cousin, Shelly Garff Taylor, long-time friends Terry and Veva Schwendiman, and Highway Patrol Trooper Cody Ohlau and his wife. I’ve enjoyed the many conversations and supporters. Thanks for having confidence in me as your legislator!

Investments in Transportation

In the last two budget cycles, we invested more than $2.1 billion from the General Fund in transit, rail, road, and trail projects. This is in addition to revenue from sales taxes, gas taxes, and registration fees going to transportation annually.

I’m really excited about the rebuilding of I-15 in North Salt Lake and Woods Cross, including a bridge over the railroad lines at 1100 North. I’ve been coordinating with UDOT for bike trails to SLC and to Legacy trails, an onramp northbound in North Salt Lake, and 215 westbound from I-15 going north. Stay tuned for more updates! Volunteering With Our Great Community

Helping volunteers, City Council Members, and Youth Council at the Woods Cross Memorial Breakfast. It was great to hear from Jennie Taylor and Mayor Westergard in the program!

Reasons To Celebrate

Congrats to ALL of the Graduates of 2022 and to new babies who have come into the world!
