Checking In At The Legislature:
2022 Legislative Session Week 1

Neighbors,

The 126th year of the Utah Legislature is finally underway! After a year of very few visitors and events, it has been wonderful to see the Capitol full of people once again. I was lucky enough to have my daughter, Eliza, sit with me on the floor to witness the opening session.

If you are interested in staying up to date with the session, you can find the live streams online at le.utah.gov. To watch a session, go to the website and click on the Calendar. Each Floor Debate and Subcommittee should have a "play" button that will grant you access to the live stream. I am excited to get to work and serve the members of this district for the remainder of this 45-day session!

Statement about SJR3: repealing the mask mandate:

"As a conservative, I believe that those closest to the people are the best to govern on local issues. I support Article X of the US constitution and federalism. This is why I voted against this resolution."

Hospitality and Tourism Pilot Program Bill

HB43 was on the reading calendar the first day of session and has passed on to the senate! This bill extends the opportunity for students k-12 to take part in internships in Hospitality and Tourism through a Pilot Program. The program was not able to be fully implemented due to COVID-19, so this extension will give more opportunities to aspiring students!

Policy Pillars for the 2022 General Session

The Utah House Majority Caucus identified five policy areas to serve as pillars to frame the 2022 Legislative Session. I am excited to debate these important issues over the next 45 days as we practice a forward-thinking, principled, and collaborative approach to public policy.
  1. Water
  2. Affordable Utah
  3. Education Modernization
  4. Maintaining the Utah Way
  5. Generational Investments
