November Special Session highlights:

  1. Workplace COVID-19 Amendments require an employer to relieve an employee of a COVID-19 vaccination mandate if receiving the vaccine would injure their health and well-being, conflict with religious beliefs, practice, or observance, or conflict with a personal belief. In addition, the bill requires an employer to pay for COVID-19 workplace testing and prohibits adverse action against an employee who claims relief.
  2. Redistricting: The final maps were the most collaborated redistricting maps ever created in the history of Utah because of modern technology. The legislature doesn’t have a marketing firm to communicate the process taken during redistricting, but for the first time, every legislator, Republican, and Democrat, was able to give input on the maps. All Democrat seats were preserved, with one House District with two Republicans in a runoff and one House District with one Republican and one Democrat in a runoff. Democrat legislators were part of the process and approved all maps except the Congressional map. Demographics were not part of the mapping, but rural and urban needs were considered, with counties and city lines preserved in all maps as much as possible.
